Some member of the right wing media are claiming that Obama’s trip to NYC to congratulate local police officers for thwarting the recent terrorist attack is a backhanded way to say “thank you.” This logic is obviously not based in reality, but it highlights something more important – within hours of the announcement that a car bomb had been found in Times Square, the GOP immediately began attacking Obama for being supposedly weak on security, even though they had no basis for these accusations.
