When the Obama Administration issued an offshore drilling moratorium in the wake of the Gulf Coast oil spill, the oil industry quickly filed suit to resume their operations. And thanks to their close ties with judges along the Gulf Coast, they were able to overturn the administration’s decision and continue polluting our waters. The two court decisions on the moratorium highlight the growing problem with our court system – which is that more and more judges across the country are being bought up by corporations, leaving plaintiff’s with almost no chance of victory.
