With how much the Ku Klux Klan has been ridiculed and made fun of, the small, decrepit band of rednecks still believe they have a cause and chance to rally perceived white man frustrations into a something that will set the country back 150 years. It’s simply not true.
The most recent attempt is credited to the Traditional Rebel Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, who are based in Maryland. The Rebel Knights organized themselves in a demonstration at the Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania over the weekend.
The hot topics for the KKK demonstration were minorities, gays, and Obama, and as one can expect, the rhetoric was all the same: minorities are taking over the country, gays are gross sinners, and Obama’s a socialist Muslim.
“The only solution is a an all-white revolution,” said a Klansman. “Anyone stands in our way, they’re going in the ground.”
As the crowd gathered, the Klan, like always, caught a lot of flak for shouting antiquated and ignorant statements about the state of America. Park visitors called the Klansmen ignorant, “disgraceful,” and an “embarrassment.” Some supported the Klan, but most everyone else pushed back.
“If they can be here spewing their hate, we can be here answering them,” said visitor Anne Snyder.
It’s incredible to think that the KKK hasn’t gone extinct by now. Their ignorant little crusade has been defeated and the days of Jim Crow and extreme white privilege are long gone. They have been reduced to a small band of country bumpkins that can’t completely dissolve soon enough.
