Jacob Dorsey, a 19-year-old Republican candidate for the Wisconsin state assembly, has dropped out of the race this week after being outed for making hateful comments on various social media outlets, Talking Points Memo reported.

After Utah’s gay marriage ban was struck down last year, Dorsey took to Twitter to say that “fags need 2 leave my favorite state alone.” It get worse. Using the words “fag” and “nigger,” he commented on YouTube as well. With such hateful gems as “fuck Abraham Lincoln,” “I hate your gay, fag videos,” and “Niggers trash cars. I’m not selling my town car to one…,” Dorsey suffered a giant backlash.

“I have decided to withdraw from the race due to insensitive remarks that have surfaced from years past,” said Dorsey. “This race has been extremely hard on my family and myself.”

This resignation from the race basically means “I got caught saying something wrong, and I said it because I’m some punk teenager who didn’t know any better.” Dorsey will return to Brigham Young University-Idaho where he can say all the hateful things he wants with all his conservative college buddies.

As far as politics go, that’s as much camaraderie as he’s going to get, because the Wisconsin Republicans have already washed their hands of Dorsey.

“His comments have no place in our political discourse,” said the Wisconsin GOP. “The party was unaware of his comments when he announced his candidacy in May and when it provided a financial contribution to his campaign.”

Dorsey’s first journey into politics has become his last. If decides to run for office in 20 years, this will be remembered and brought up. Have fun at the quad, Dorsey.
