The Rockefeller family made its money on oil.
And it made a lot.
But now the heirs of tycoon John D. Rockefeller have decided to take their investments out of fossil fuels and put them into green technologies.
In a statement, Stephen Heintz of the Rockefeller Brothers fund said,
“We are quite convinced that if [John D. Rockefeller] were alive today, as an astute businessman looking out to the future, he would be moving out of fossil fuels and investing in clean, renewable energy.”
Amy Goodman of Democracy Now discussed this trend with Scott Wallace, co-chair of the Wallace Global Fund, which coordinated the divestment efforts.
