On November 4, a group called the “Wisconsin Poll Watcher Militia” is planning to arm themselves and track down Democratic voters who signed a petition to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker, Talking Points Memo reported.
The group used Facebook to organize their mission and explicitly outlines their plan to single out and track Democratic voters at certain Wisconsin state polling stations on election day. This is harassment considering that these armed assailants plan to follow these voters from the polls to their homes.
They use the reasoning that the are committing this strange and heinous act because they want to catch voters who potentially have warrants.
“Please private message us names of people you know are active voters and are wanted on warrants,” read one Facebook post on the group’s page. “We can get our agents to watch their polling location, identify the individual, and then follow them to their residence. A call to the police and they will be picked up for processing.”
The warrant aspect is just a C.Y.A. measure to protect the group from any legal consequence. But it’s obvious that their main goal is to weaken the Democratic voter base.
TPM reported that even though the group posted a picture of African-Americans to illustrate their intended targets, they say that black people won’t be targeted specifically.
“We know better because we have a nice list of people who are wanted democratic activists. . . We will target everyone,” read another post.
The group’s Facebook page has since been taken down. Which causes one to think that if these people are engaging in some righteous act of justice, then why feel the need to remove the page? Generally, it’s because they know what they’re doing is wrong and disgusting.
