Fox News’ Eric Bolling, rolling off of the #lattesalute, went on to disrespect one of the brave women fighting to protect America abroad when he asked if having a female UAE fighter pilot in the region would be considered “boobs on the ground.” Jon Stewart rips the false patriotism and the masquerade of this charlatan.
You can watch the full episode below, the section where Stewart goes after Bolling starts around 4:15.
It’s a shame the Fox News, the nearly-self-supposed bastion of patriotism. Stewart perfectly encapsulates the anger their actions elicit:
What was the quote someone said earlier in your program? “These people are putting their lives on the lives for us, show some respect. So, f*ck you and all your false patriotism. When [George W.] Bush took us to war, any criticism was shouted down as treasonous. But a president you don’t like has the country poised on the same precipice [and] no transgression – no matter how immaterial and ridiculous – is too small to cite as evidence that this president isn’t as American as you are.
The duplicity of the comments is appalling and Stewart brought that disconnect between the way Fox represented Bush and the way it attacks Obama home:
Here we’ve got two presidents, both sending the United States to war citing the same legal authorities. Both without any seeming exit strategy and both holding sh*t in their hands while saluting our troops. But in their [Fox’s] diseased minds, only one did that because he loved America. The other did it because he hated it.
