Ron Baity, a hell, fire, and brimstone Baptist pastor, of the Berean Baptist Church in North Carolina went on a fiery, hyperbolic tirade about how homosexuals were a sign of the End Times, the Raw Story reported.

“So the book of the Revelation is about End Times events and what happens when this world is destroyed by fire, when the stars and the universe and the sun and the moon, like untimely figs cast from a tree, are just completely done away with and annihilated,” said Baity. “You might as well get ready for it. It’s on. It’s just a matter of time when they’re going to say to the churches . . . It’s just a matter of time before our constitution in our churches will be overturned like our state constitution just been overturned this week. I mean, it’s coming.”

Baity is referring to a court’s decision to strike down North Carolina’s constitutional ban on gay marriage. According to Baity’s irrational, fundamentalist Christian fervor, the world will now end because of it.

Baity then goes from spouting off weird, Biblical interpretations and move into completely insane rhetoric. He slips into a strange analogy where he compares human sexuality to that of cows.

“There was never a cow going around slobbering on another cow, sending a signal that I’m in love with this cow,” said Baity. “And when the bull got in the pasture, we didn’t have to give them a course in bullology or cowology.”

Little does this man know, there are plenty of animals that actually do practice homosexuality. Baity’s tirade becomes even more erratic and disjointed while he begins to compare judges to skunks.

“I would hate to think that two skunks in the backyard was smarter than a judge that’s supposed to have studied the laws of the land,” Baity continued. “Listen, we’re not getting wiser, we’re getting dumber! We’re not getting smarter. My friend, we are meriting, we are bringing the judgement of God on this nation as sure as Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed, don’t be surprised by the plagues. You think Ebola is bad now, just wait.”

This man compared the LGBT community to “maggots and murderers,” Raw Story further noted, and the religious community believes him to be an great leader. It’s depressing that people like Baity have a platform to spew their nonsensical, broken logic. What’s more, people actually buy into this kind of fervor and take it as truth.

It’s not sexual equality that will lead people down the wrong path; it’s people like Baity.
