Before a grand jury decided not to criminally indict Ferguson Police officer Darren Wilson last night, the office of St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch released the official testimony of Wilson, the Raw Story reported. Wilson’s testimony could be described as theatrical as best.
“He looked up at me and had the most aggressive face,” according to the official testimony. “The only way I can describe it, it looks like a demon, that’s how angry he looked. When I grabbed him, the only way I can describe it is I felt like a 5-year-old holding onto Hulk Hogan. That’s just how big he felt and how small I felt from grasping his arm.”
Wilson testified that Brown twice struck his face, and felt that a third “could be fatal.” At that point, Wilson said he shot twice while struggling for control over his pistol, and Brown ran. Wilson said that Brown didn’t comply to any orders and charged him. The next part of Wilson’s statement reads a bit over-exaggerated.
“At this point it looked like he was almost bulking up to run through the shot,” said Wilson. “Like it was making him mad that I’m shooting at him. And the face that he had looking straight through me, like I wasn’t even there, I wasn’t even anything in his way.”
These parts of Wilson’s testimony seem over-exaggerated, like he was trying really hard to sell to the grand jury that his life was in such danger. Darren Wilson describes the actions of someone on speed or PCP, who is usually overly violent and seem to possess superhuman strength. The toxicology report from Wilson’s autopsy found no such substance. Only THC was present from smoking marijuana.
There’s no doubt that Brown attacked Wilson and, as physical evidence has shown, had been hit in the face twice by Brown. But if Wilson trumped up his account, essentially putting on a show for the grand jury, that’s dishonest and manipulative of the justice system.
