After the 2012 election, the Republican party conducted an autopsy of its failure to retake the White House and Senate. That autopsy concluded that the GOP needed to make end-roads among minority communities if it wanted to survive as a political party in the 21st century.
In the wake of the 2014 midterm elections, however, some Republicans have questioned this line of thinking. They say that their party’s big win in November was a sign that the Republicans’ demographic doom is a long way off.
