Anti-war activist group Code Pink held a demonstration and attempted to place former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger under citizens’ arrest during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing last Thursday, reported TruthOut.
Amy Goodman of Democracy Now originally reported on the incident where protesters confronted Kissinger on his war crimes relating to the Vietnam War. The incident also features Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) calling one of the protesters “low-life scum.”
Kissinger was the Secretary of State and national security advisor during the Vietnam War to Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. During the demonstration, McCain had U.S. Capitol police escort the demonstrators out of the hearing chambers.
