With today’s conservatives being crazier than ever, some groups have launched attacks at 2016 presidential hopeful Jeb Bush, reported Salon. The most recent attack being the attempt at connecting Bush to Benghazi, which conservatives have tried many times to pin on Hillary Clinton, another 2016 hopeful.
The conservative activist group, ForAmerica, has launched an ad campaign against Jeb Bush which seems to imply that the prospective candidate had some kind of hand in Benghazi. “What’s their clue?” one may ask. Almost one year to the day after the Benghazi incident, Bush presented an award for public service to Clinton. Salon illustrates that poor logic perfectly: “Jeb gave Hillary an award; Hillary did Benghazi; therefore, Jeb gave Hillary an award for doing Benghazi.”
Here’s the video, released by ForAmerica.
Just so we’re clear, we all know that Hillary wasn’t responsible for Benghazi. In fact, a Republican-controlled House panel debunked many of the Benghazi theories, including ones that involved Clinton. Not many people heard about it because the GOPers released the results during a Friday afternoon news dump when hardly anyone is reading the news.
“We conducted detailed interviews with senior intelligence officials from Benghazi and Tripoli as well as eight security personnel on the ground in Benghazi that night,” said the panel. “Based on the testimony and the documents we reviewed, we concluded that all the CIA officers in Benghazi were heroes. Their actions saved lives.”
Despite Bush’s neoconservative past, he’s been pushing himself as a centrist conservative. Today’s crop of Republicans say Bush is “unelectable.”
Many think because the GOP controls Congress, that it’s going to be smooth sailing for the Republicans. This is not the case. There may be more conservatives, but there is vicious infighting and conflict between Tea Partiers and Establishment GOPers while self-proclaimed moderates like Bush are trying to get noticed.
One thing can be found among all this: the Republican party is a mess. The Democrats are a mess too, but the GOP is an utter disaster. Jeb Bush gives an award to someone and all of a sudden he’s connected to some debunked military conspiracy theory. Oh, well. At least it’s happening to the Republicans.
