On yesterday’s episode of Meet the Press, California Gov. Jerry Brown said that Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) anti-climate change stance makes him “absolutely unfit to be running for office.”

Host Chuck Todd played a clip from Late Night with Seth Meyers in which Cruz, who is the first Republican to announce their candidacy, said,

“My view is actually simple. Debates on this should follow science and should follow data. Many of the alarmists on global warming, they’ve got a problem because the science doesn’t back them up. In particular, satellite data demonstrate that for the last 17 years, there’s been zero warming.”

Brown responded to Cruz’s comments, calling them “absolutely false.”

“That man betokens such a level of ignorance and a direct falsification of the existing scientific data,” Brown said. “It’s shocking, and I think that man has rendered himself absolutely unfit to be running for office.”
