Last Saturday night, crowds mobilized in the streets to protest the death of Freddie Gray. His death has been widely publicized for its brutality at the hands of the Baltimore police. The altercation with the police severed his spine, which sent him into a coma, and he never recovered.

Since Gray’s death, protests have been underway for Freddie Gray.

Among the protesters were reporters, as there should be. One of the members of the crowd was photographer J.M. Giordano. After some protesters began throwing rocks, which hit the shields of police and fell pathetically to the ground, officers moved into the crowd. It’s reported that a handful of officers closed in on Giordano and beat him while spectators shouted:

He’s a photographer! He’s press!
