Fox News conservatives and the Miami Fraternal Order of Police President Sgt. Javier Ortiz are unreasonably upset about Anita Najiy, the first black woman to be named Assistant Chief of Police, not putting her hand over her heart during the Pledge of Allegiance, reported Addicting Info.
Najiy is a United State military veteran and according to her training, it’s proper to stand at attention while facing the American during the Pledge of Allegiance indoors. Plenty of military veterans use this practice, just as many salute during the National Anthem instead of placing their hands on their hearts, for instance.
However, Ortiz got upset about Najiy’s gesture and wrote a letter demanding that Najiy be removed as Honor Guard Commander because he thinks she did it to “make a political statement.” Police Major Daresh Moss received Ortiz’s letter but defended Najiy, saying that “The Honor Guard follows military code. She was following U.S. military code. It had nothing to do with personal beliefs.”
The idiots over at Fox & Friends got a hold of this story and ran with it. They created a false narrative complete with speculations about politics and even an argument that she may be Muslim.
Steve Doocy bolstered the Muslim argument by saying, “The fraternal order of police president has suggested this could have been a religious decision. He has suggested that perhaps she is a Muslim. That is not known.”
Elisabeth Hasselbeck chimed in with her unworthy and silly opinion.
“And so is it our right to know why someone would opt-out of that? How does that make you feel if that is indeed your district? Would you want to know?”
Maybe it isn’t our right, maybe it is. One thing’s for certain: it’s not a big deal. Najiy followed military code and a police major acknowledged that she did the right thing. But a bunch of conservative crybabies want to make an issue out of nothing for ratings.
