Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) released a new video explaining the problems with the disastrous Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, secretly being negotiated as we speak.
In the video, “No to ‘Fast Track,’ No to Trade Treachery,” Grayson first explains how 20 years ago the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) caused the trade deficit to explode, destroying the middle class.
“For the past 14 years, our average annual trade deficit has been over half a trillion dollars,” Grayson said. “That’s a deficit of more than $1,500 each and every year for every man, woman, and child in this country. This is not free trade.”
These 14 years are actually the 14 greatest trade deficits in “the history of mankind,” said Grayson, asking what sane person could look at the pre- and post-NAFTA trade deficits and “conclude that what America needs is more free trade?”
