On last night’s episode of The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart examined the veritable clown car that is the field of GOP presidential candidates, which now includes former Sen. Rick Santorum (PA) and former New York Gov. George Pataki.
After discussing racist statements made by candidates Carly Fiorina, who basically said the Chinese are smart but have no imagination, and Sen. Lindsey Graham (SC), who said that all Iranians are liars, Stewart began salivating at the idea that Donald Trump might enter the race.
“They’re all very colorful characters, but for me — for me — there can only be one Fuckface von Clownstick,” Stewart said, joking that Trump’s candidacy might make him reconsider his impending retirement or at least cause him to open a Twitter account.
Stewart then turned to the Democratic candidates, praising Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for his authenticity compared to the politicians we’re used to.
“The problem isn’t Bernie Sanders is a crazy-pants cuckoo bird,” he said, “it’s that we’ve all become so accustomed to stage-managed, focus-driven candidates that authenticity comes across as lunacy.”
