Kansas Republicans wanted to pass an anti-immigration bill that would ban undocumented immigrants from going to college, quite the racist move. Kansas state Rep. Valdenia Winn (D), a black woman, called the bill what it was, racist. State Republicans are now wanting to kick her out of the legislature.
“I have dreaded this day because this is a racist, sexist, fear-mongering bill that I would like first to apologize to the progressively-minded people of Kansas who are appalled that we are turning back the hands of time,” said Winn. “I am going to use strong language, Jim Crow tactics, and once again making Kansas a laughingstock.”
