South Carolina State Rep. Doug Brannon (R) is sponsoring a bill to remove the Confederate flag from the statehouse. Brannon was a close friend of state senator Rev. Clementa Pinckney, who was shot and killed in the massacre.
“I had a friend die Wednesday night for no reason other than he was a black man,” grieved Brannon. “Sen. Pinckney was an incredible human being. I don’t want to talk politics, but I’m going to introduce the bill for that reason.”
South Carolina, and other southern states, needs to eradicate the Confederate flag.
