The GOP calls Bernie Sanders a socialist. They point out he voted against invading Iraq (both times), and that he wants to cut the defense budget. Yet, veterans are increasingly fueling the rise in “Feeling the Bern.” Veterans point out that Bernie actually has tried to push meaningful measures for them (such as restoring cost of living raises, expanding education opportunities, and adding new dental care benefits). Unfortunately, these efforts were blocked by Republicans concerned about the price tag. Veterans have taken notice, and are not being fooled by the GOP’s calling Bernie an anti-military, socialist. They are coming out in masses to support him, and have even honored him with their most prestigious awards.
