Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said that the deaths in Chattanooga this past week would have been prevented if the military would not have gun-free zones. According to Trump, if the soldiers had been armed, four, and now five, soldiers would not have died as a result of the shootings.

“We have to start doing something with these gun-free zones,” Trump said on Morning Joe. “They were sitting there and they were just targets for this madman.”

Tougher, more aggressive action on the part of police would also help prevent tragedies in Chattanooga, according to Trump.

“We’re going to have to get much tougher on law enforcement,” said Trump.

“As commander-in-chief, I would mandate that soldiers must remain armed and on alert at our military bases,” Trump has said in the past.

All of this fits with Trumps self-professed tough stances on just about everything. He claims he’s tough on policing, tough on immigration, tough on political correctness, and on and on.

Unfortunately, Trump has little in the way of backing up his “tough” claims.
