The morally destitute social network for people that want to cheat on their spouses, Ashley Madison, has had to close up shop following a hack that threatens the privacy and information of every single user of the site.

Having broken the site, hackers claim to have possession of user’s data and state they will release the customers’ sexual fantasies, financial information, and identities if the website does not shut itself down.

AshleyMadison.com has reported that some 37 million people use their service.

The company has apologized while some express a suspicion that the site is the victim of an inside job.

We have always had the confidentiality of our customers’ information foremost in our minds, and have had stringent security measures in place, including working with leading IT vendors from around the world. As other companies have experienced, these security measures have unfortunately not prevented this attack to our system.

The owners of the site had been considering a public offering for the company, as it was highly successful. This latest news casts doubt onto whether the company’s IPO will ever see the light of day.

Reportedly, one of the hackers has stated, “Too bad for these men, they’re cheating dirt bags that deserve no such discretion.”
