Sandy Bland was originally pulled over by State Trooper Brian T. Encinia for a failure to signal when she moved over to get out of his way. Bland went to jail following an incident with the officer and by the next week, she was dead – strangled with a plastic bag.
Initial reports indicated that Bland was suspected of suicide. Doubt from the community and Bland’s family as to her taking her own life have resulted in an investigation from the State Attorney’s Office for foul play.
