For months, the fringe of the Republican Party has been warning us that the Jade Helm military exercises were part of a government plot to attack the United States (specifically Texas.) As the exercises got underway today, there wasn’t any evidence that the U.S. was going to attack Texas, but that hasn’t stopped people like Alex Jones from using this as an excuse to promote their extremist, paranoid views about the world.
