Caitlyn Jenner is considered a champion for the transgender community. But is she the champion the community needs? Transgender people are at a higher risk for homelessness and unemployment, and thus at higher need for relying on social programs. Jenner, a conservative, doesn’t think that transgender people should be allowed only limited access to such programs.
“Don’t, a lot of times, they can make more not working with social programs than they actually can with an entry-level job?” Caitlyn says. “You don’t want people to get totally dependent on it,” said Jenner on an episode of I Am Cait. “That’s when they get in trouble. ‘Why should I work? I got a few bucks, I got my room paid for.’”
The group looks reasonably uncomfortable in response to Jenner’s right-wing dogma.
