Donald Trump simply can’t resist opening his mouth and saying stupid stuff. On ABC’s This Week, Trump said that Obama has done such a poor job as president that it will be a very long time before another black president is elected. “I think that he has set a very poor standard,” Trump said. “I think that he has set a very low bar and I think it’s a shame for the African American people.” “Sadly, because President Obama has done such a poor job as president, you won’t see another black president for generations.”
First, while we at ROF certainly do not applaud all actions (or better said, inactions) of Obama’s presidency, to say he has been a horrible president is crazy talk. Certainly to compare his presidency to that of George W. Bush would make Obama a tremendous success story.
If Trump’s logic were accurate, we would never have another white, male, President ever considering how poorly the vast majority of them have performed over the last 200 years. This likely would be a good thing, as it would prevent Trump from even getting out of the starting gate.
