Donald Trump is having his hat handed to him regarding his comments on how he would handle military affairs in the Middle East. Trump has repeatedly claimed that he would simply “bomb the hell” out of the region to resolve the issues there. It appears that the word from the Army regarding that proposed plan is, unequivocally, “No.”
Army Chief of Staff General Raymond T. Odierno told the Washington Post that he completely disagrees with Trump’s plan to simply drop bombs.
“That is not where we are today,” he said. “What we want to do is try to stop… a group that is potentially attempting to be a long-term influence in the Middle East, that is clearly promoting extremism and frankly supressing populations in the Middle East. In order to resolve that, you need countries of the Middle East and those surrounding the Middle East to be involved in the solution.”
When asked directly if he disagreed with Trump, he responded: “I do, I do. Right now, I do.”
