Political attack ad season, in all its petty and ridiculous glory, has fallen back upon us. This really is the best part of every election cycle. It’s like Christmas, the Super Bowl, and a C-SPAN election special all rolled into one. No one knows how and when watching politicians take televised jabs at each other became a national pastime. But who cares? It’s attack ad season.

For the next 15 months, Americans will be inundated with 30-second television ads dedicated to making opposing politicians look like the anti-Christ. We will hear an unseen male speaking in a deep voice, and asking rhetorical questions like “Does this politician sound like a true American to you? We didn’t think so,” all set to ominous background music.

The first of these ads belongs to Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who launched this piece of political mud-slinging against GOP opponent Donald Trump. These two really hate each other.

God bless the United States of America.

Watch.
