A federal jury convicted a New York white supremacist of plotting to kill Muslims and President Barack Obama with a remote-controlled radiation device, reported the Guardian.
Glendon Scott Crawford plotted to construct, what he called, “Hiroshima on a light switch” and was convicted by a unanimous jury of all three criminal charges: use of a weapon of mass destruction, attempting to build and use a radiological dispersal device, and distributing information with respect to a weapon of mass destruction. It was essentially a radioactive death ray.
“Glendon Scott Crawford was a terrorist who attempted to acquire a weapon of mass destruction and to use it to kill innocent members of the Muslim community,” said US attorney for the northern district of New York, Richard Hartunian.
Crawford, a 51-year-old member of the Ku Klux Klan, will have a sentencing hearing on December 15. He faces a mandatory minimum of 25 years to life in prison and a $2 million fine for the dispersal device charge, life in prison for the WMD charge, and up to 20 years for the distribution charge.
