The Republican Party announced that former Vice President Dick Cheney will explain why Congress should oppose the Iran nuclear deal, reported Politico. This is like having a drug dealer explain to people why they should do heroin.
Cheney, a known war criminal, will speak next month at the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative event, about the deal’s “consequences for the security and interests of the United States and its allies in the Middle East.” Like all other war hawks, Cheney says the Iran nuclear deal will increase the likelihood of Iran getting a nuclear weapon.
“What Obama has done has, in effect, sanctioned the acquisition by Iran of nuclear capability,” said Cheney last month on Fox News. “And it can be a few years down the road. It doesn’t make any difference. It’s a matter of months until we’re going to see a situation where other people feel they have to defend themselves by acquiring their own capability. And that will, in fact, I think put us closer to use — actual use of nuclear weapons than we’ve been at any time since Hiroshima and Nagasaki in World War II.”
Having Cheney push any opposition against the Iran nuclear deal is the last act of a desperate party. Cheney is the original war hawk, the architect of the Iraq War responsible for the turbulence in the Middle East. He’s a war criminal who will forever be associated with failed foreign policy, and lying to the American public and to Congress to force us into an unjustified war.
