Former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle is not just be perverted, but he’s also greedy. The Jared Foundation, designed to fight childhood obesity, has issued a single grant like it promised, reported CBS News.
The Jared Foundation was announced in 2008, and it promised to donate $2 million to schools and community groups to combat childhood obesity. However, the organization never made a single grant. The foundation was worth $15 million at one point.
USA Today reported that “from 2009 through 2013, the foundation spent just $73,000 a year on average. Sixty percent of the money went to the executive director’s salary, and twenty-six percent is unaccounted for.”
The Indiana Secretary of State dissolved the Jared Foundation in 2012. Although the organization is still recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). It was reported that the Jared Foundation also ignored delinquency notices related to non-payment of Indiana’s annual registration fee, a mere $5.
Fogle has been accused of boosting his image, rather than trying to help children. “If Jared was really interested in helping children through his foundation, he could have gotten more money,” said Daniel Borochoff of CharityWatch. “As with a lot of celebrities, the charity appears to be more about image-enhancement than charitable deeds.”
