Trump was just kidding when he said that he was above influence and persuasion, because he would fund his own campaign. Donald Trump is now happy to take your money. On Monday, Trump announced he would start taking campaign donations.
One of Trump’s guiding principles is that he claims to not be beholden to lobbyists or special interest groups due to that fact that his campaign will have no need to for their monetary contributions.
“I’m using my own money. I’m not using the lobbyists. I’m not using donors. I don’t care. I’m really rich,” Trump said in June.
But it looks like Trump’s tune is changing.
Now it’s, “Only if there’s no strings whatsoever attached,” he told Fox & Friends.
“The only strings attached is I wanna make America great again,” Trump said.
Trump has offered no public rationale for his decision to accept donations. Obviously, like everything that Trump says he exaggerates tremendously and is no where near as rich as he claims.
