Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) will campaign for former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI), liberal progressive, this month in order to rally support for his attempted return to the United States Congress, reported the Huffington Post. Warren’s endorsement will surely rally liberal voters and give Feingold an honest shot at returning.
Feingold was defeated by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) in 2010. Warren argued that Johnson only represents millionaires and corporations while overlooking average Americans. “Ron Johnson sides with the big guys who have already made it, while Russ sides with Wisconsin students and working families,” said Warren.
Russ’ ideologies fall in line with the needs of average Americans. He supports legislation that would allow college students and graduates to refinance their loans, but Johnson opposes the idea. Johnson said it would increase taxes on the wealthy, as if rich people need anymore money.
“Here’s the really crazy part about Ron Johnson’s education policy: Forget refinancing – if he has his way, the federal government wouldn’t help college students with loans at all,” Warren added. “Kids whose parents can’t afford to write a check for college would lose basic consumer protections and be at the mercy of private lenders who offer loans not at lower government interest rates, but at 8%, 10%, 12% – or even higher.”
Officials like Russ are what this country needs, not two-bit hack politicians who slave for the large corporations and the one percent.
