Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Candidate showed us her hawkish side when talking about American relations with Iran, reported the Huffington Post. Some believe she is too hawkish for the Democratic party.
“The U.S. will never allow you [Iran] to acquire a nuclear weapon,” said Clinton during a speech on Wednesday. “I will not hesitate to take military action if Iran attempts to obtain a nuclear weapon.” For the most part, Clinton supports the Iran nuclear deal but has said she’d take aggressive military action if Iran broke the deal.
She said the key to the deal’s success is showing the Iranians that America is serious about the deal. “We should expect that Iran will want to test the next president,” said continued. “They will want to see how far they can bend the rules. That won’t work if I’m in the White House.”
Breaking away from the Obama administration, Clinton suggested that the United States send more troops to the Persian Gulf and said Congress should “close any gaps” in the existing sanctions to punish Iran for supporting terrorists and for “current or future instances of human rights abuses.”
This is the side of Hillary Clinton that the military industrial complex will love.
