Rick Perry is expected to formally announce the end of his presidential bid today.
“We have a tremendous field – the best in a generation – so I step aside knowing our party is in good hands, and as long as we listen to the grassroots, the cause of conservatism will be too,” sources report that Perry’s remarks state.
“I share this news with no regrets,” Perry’s remarks say. “It has been a privilege and an honor to travel this country, to speak with the American people about their hopes and dreams, to see a sense of optimism prevalent despite a season of cynical politics.”
Despite Perry’s formal announcement, he is expect to technically suspend his campaign so that he can continue to raise money to cover the expenses that have been incurred during the campaign.
In reality, Perry’s campaign was dead on arrival. The formal announcement is just to put the last nail in the coffin.
