Televangelist Jim Bakker told his studio audience to hide their food in storage during the “world collapse” because even our “sweet neighbors” will become so hungry that they’d eat their own babies. This rhetoric turned out to be a sales pitch for Bakker’s line of food products.
“The Bible says they’re going to eat their arms, the Bible says they’re going to eat their babies, then it says they’re going to eat their children,” said Bakker. “That’s what people do when they get hungry.”
He uses that warning to lead into a sales pitch, urging his viewers and listeners to purchase his survival food buckets. These buckets can sell for thousands of dollars.
