Last week, President Barack Obama launched the “Stand Stronger” campaign, which is committed to urging 8.8 million legal immigrants to become citizens. The campaign will help legal immigrants earn the right to vote.
The campaign now allows immigrants to pay fees on a credit card, expanded digital services to streamline the legalization process, and expanded pro bono legal services to eligible immigrants. The campaign will provide some much-needed opposition to the Trump campaign, which has rallied the bigots and xenophobes of America against non-whites.
Considering immigrants have to pay thousands of dollars in fees to become a citizen, free pro bono legal services should give immigrants a leg up on their path to citizenship. Hopefully, many can become citizens before the 2016 election to keep the Republicans at bay.
