Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush has tried to sell himself as his own man, the intelligent Bush. However, he’s shaping up to be no different than his dimwitted brother.
Bush gave the first sign of his idiocy before officially announcing his candidacy. When he was first asked whether the Iraq War was a mistake, Bush spent a week giving different answers and digging himself out of a hole of public outrage. He’s since been careful about criticizing any of his brother’s policies. So much for being his “own man.”
He recently announced a tax plan which would only benefit the wealthy, another reflection of the George W. era. Fifty-three percent of Bush’s tax cuts would go straight to the one percent. In another swipe against non-wealthy people, Bush recently said that he will not promise “free stuff” to get black votes.
“Our message is one of hope and aspiration,” he said at the East Cooper Republican Women’s Club annual Shrimp Dinner, an event mainly attended by rich white people. “It isn’t one of division and get in line and we’ll take care of you with free stuff. Our message is one that is uplifting — that says you can achieve earned success.”
Sadly, “hope and aspiration” don’t put food on the table or make sure single, working mothers get the financial support they need. Jeb is Dubya 2.0.
