Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) interviewed (bullied) Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards about the agency’s allocation of funds and operation. During the first part of the hearing, Chaffetz started bullying, interrupting, and preventing Richards from answering questions.
Richards started to overcome Chaffetz’s brashness and shut down the Congressman when he presented biased information compiled by a right-wing, anti-abortion group. Chaffetz showed a chart illustrating that abortions at Planned Parenthood have increased while breast exams have decreased.
Chaffetz said the information came from Planned Parenthood’s corporate reports, but that turned out to be a lie.
“I pulled those numbers directly out of your corporate reports,” Chaffetz said.
“Excuse me,” Richards said. “My lawyers have informed me that the source of this is Americans United for Life which is an anti-abortion group so I would check your source.”
“Then we will get to the bottom of the truth of that,” replied Chaffetz after stumbling.
