Nearly all crazy right-wingers are gun owners, but not all gun owners are delusional right-wingers. John Parker, who is a student at Umpqua Community College, is a rational gun owner and explained why he didn’t get involved during the Oregon shooting even though he was legally armed, and well trained in the use of guns.

For context, concealed weapons are not banned from the Umpqua Community College campus, and students are permitted to carry concealed weapons provided that they have the proper licensing.

During an interview on MSNBC, Parker, a military veteran, explained why it was better judgement not to get involved with his firearm:

Luckily we made the choice not to get involved. We were quite a distance away from the building where this was happening. And we could have opened ourselves up to be potential targets ourselves, and not knowing where SWAT was, their response time, they wouldn’t know who we were. And if we had our guns ready to shoot, they could think that we were bad guys.

Parker is a breath of fresh air from the standard gun nuts who believe the government and criminals are out to get them. He has a rational mind, sound judgement, and didn’t want to play hero for the sake of using his gun.
