Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump isn’t so different from his rival, Jeb Bush, when it comes to mass shootings. Bush responded to the Oregon shooting and said “stuff happens.” Trump had a similar response, saying “these things happen.”
Here’s Trump’s take on the Oregon school shooting that left nine innocent people dead:
You’re always going to have problems. I mean, we have millions and millions of people, we have millions of sick people all over the world — it can happen all over the world, and it does happen all over the world, and it does happen all over the world, by the way, but this is sort of unique to this country, the school shootings. And you’re going to have difficulty no matter what… You’re going to have these things happen and it’s a horrible thing to behold, horrible… It’s not politically correct to say, but you’re going to have difficulty and that will be for the next million years, there’s going to be difficulty, and people are going to slip through the cracks.
The complacent response from Republicans is disturbing, to say the least. As the case for more gun-control laws becomes stronger, the pro-gun conservative arguments are becoming weaker. In fact, knowing that their arguments for less gun restrictions are absurd and offensive, they now have decided the best approach is to simply say: “nothing can be done. Bad things just happen in life. Get used to it.”
