General Motors has issued another recall, this one regarding windshield wiper motors. The company has instructed owners of some SUV models not to use the wipers because the wiper motor could catch fire.
GM has recalled approximately 32,000 2016 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia models to address the faulty motors. About 6,400 of these vehicle have reportedly already been sold, and dealers are repairing the vehicles in the recall.
If weather poses a dangerous challenge for owners to reach the dealerships, GM will pick up the vehicles and will arrange to rental cars for owners if parts are not immediately available.
The company discovered the defect when a wiper motor overheated at GM factory outside of Lansing, Michigan. Reportedly, no fires of a similar nature have been reported outside of the plant. Luckily, no one has been injured or killed as a result of this defect, unlike the ignition switch defect that was reported last year.
