Founder of the News Corp. empire and former CEO of Fox News Rupert Murdoch caught some heat over a tweet he sent where he said President Barack Obama isn’t a real black president. He later issued an apology.
While praising Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson, Murdoch made the comment about Obama.
Ben and Candy Carson terrific. What about a real black President who can properly address the racial divide? And much else.

Hundreds of Twitter users fired back at Murdoch for his insensitive comments.
@rupertmurdoch So Obama is not “a real black president ?”

@rupertmurdoch How do you define “real black”, Rupert? Are we back in your 30s childhood, in the era of “half-castes” and “mulattoes“?

I’m dying to know what @rupertmurdoch meant by “a real black President.” Is Obama not a real Black person? Rupe what is a real Black person?
— Touré (@Toure) October 8, 2015
@rupertmurdoch you want to talk about racial divide when your media outlets continue to pedal fear & mistrust? Puh-leeze!
— Dave (@chef09876) October 8, 2015
Realizing the mess he created, Murdoch issued an apology tweet.
Apologies! No offence meant. Personally find both men charming.
