Alaska’s Governor, Bill Walker, has a confusing view of what it means to fight climate change. The Independent politician believes that his state should allow more oil excavation to make money to help pay for the fight against climate change.
“We have villages that are washing away because of the change in the climate,” said Walker. “I don’t see anybody putting together contribution funds to help move Kivalina, and so that’s our obligation.”
“We’ve got about 12 villages in the same situation,” he said. “This isn’t something we can put off for 10-20 years… We have to begin this process now – it’s an absolute urgency for Alaska.”
