Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump launched attacks against Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders a day before the first Democratic debate.
Trump said Sanders’ ideologies were “a short road to failure for the country.” He added that Sanders had no staying power because “if you’re a socialist running for office in this country, I don’t see it happening.” Sanders has held a political office in America for the last 30 years, despite being a democratic socialist.
“I am a capitalist,” said Trump. “I have created tremendous numbers of jobs and lots of education for families and healthcare for families. Sanders is a socialist and he’s trying to soften it by saying a Democrat and a socialist – but he’s really a socialist. He’s changing it and wants to be a little more mainstream.”
Despite being on the far-left, more Republicans are willing to compliment Sanders than they are Hillary Clinton. Republican candidate Bobby Jindal, incorrectly, said both Sanders and Clinton are socialists, but at least Sanders is honest.
The first Democratic debate takes place tonight on CNN, which will be streaming the event live online.
