Several national polls show that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s post-debate numbers have regained much of the ground she lost to Bernie Sanders over the summer.
If Sanders expects to regain his lost ground in the polls, he’s going to have to address all of the issues important to Democratic voters. Clinton leads Sanders on being “closer” to potential voters on the issues, 53 – 36 percent. She also leads Sanders on who “understands the problems of people like you,” 51 – 37 percent.
Clinton’s new national poll numbers have her at 54 percent among Democrats and left-leaning independents. Last month, Clinton dipped to 42 percent, her lowest level of support in the last two years.
Sanders fell somewhat short of the lofty expectations faced going into last week’s Democratic presidential debates. Despite an explosion of national grassroots support, his poll numbers have begun to decline.
