Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton addressed a town hall on Thursday, the day after the third Republican presidential candidate, and said viewers would have been better off watching Game 2 of the World Series between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets.
Considering that Royals starting pitcher Johnny Cueto, who came to Kansas City from the Cincinnati Reds mid-season, threw a masterful two-hit complete game shutout in 122 pitches, Clinton is right. The last American League pitcher to achieve such a feat was Red Sox pitcher Jim Lonborg, who tossed a two-hit complete game shutout against the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 2 of the 1967 World Series. Republicans couldn’t make that kind of history if they tried.
“You would have been better off watching the World Series,” said Clinton. She added that the “debate was swing and miss,” which is fitting because that’s all the Mets batters did all that night.
“I heard a lot of insults, and a lot of back and forth between the various candidates,” she said.
