The Republican presidential debate on Wednesday could very well be candidate Jeb Bush’s last major hoorah, the death rattle of Jeb! 2016.

For the last several weeks, Bush has been floundering in the polls, getting drilled by journalists and the general public alike, and has slowly slipped into being a literal carbon copy of his brother George W. Bush. Jeb’s attempt to simultaneously embrace and distance himself from the last President Bush has failed miserably.

Out of the 10 candidates who spoke at the debate on Wednesday night, none needed a better performance than Bush. He did not deliver. He was barely a blip on the radar and slipped from sharing the frontrunner section with Donald Trump, to standing somewhere on the flank, out of the spotlight.

Bush’s campaign is on life support. He’s faced too much and will likely have trouble overcoming the tarnished family legacy. There will be no Jeb! 2016 presidency.
