The budget deal passed this week had less to do with the budget than it did with clearing the path for newly elected House Speaker Paul Ryan to use the House to pass all sorts of extremist conservative legislation. We’re in for a rough 12 months, and the best we can hope for is a strong Democratic turnout in 2016 that shifts the balance of power in the House.
