A Mississippi man has been accused of bombing a Walmart because he was angry that the company stopped selling Confederate flags.
Marshall E. Leonard of Tupelo, Mississippi was charged with detonating an explosive device after he threw an explosive into the Walmart Supercenter early Sunday morning. There was minimal damage and no one was injured or killed. Bomb technicians said the bomb’s shoddy assembly prevented it from causing more damage.
Leonard was known to fly a 4-foot-long Mississippi state flag from his car, which includes a small Confederate flag in the left corner. “He’s a strong supporter of keeping that flag flying,” said Tupelo Police Chief Bart Aguirre. “This is his way of bringing attention to that.”
Leonard is reportedly a recluse with no job. He will receive a court-appointed judge. This could be the action of a mentally-ill man who just so happens to be a crazy right-wing redneck.
